This tour is not really one tour but a suggestion of what can be done outside of Rio. A car with driver is mandatory for this tour…

To spend the day outside of the city there are several options:

– Buzios, about two hours east of Rio: A very famous holiday destination for Cariocas and tourists alike. Quite crowded on weekends, quieter on weekdays. Nice beaches, good restaurants, lots of local crafts stores.

-Petropolis: to the north of Rio, in the mountains, something very different and good especially on very hot days 🙂

-Parati: Originally a fishing village, this city is lined with a lot of old houses and cobblestone streets. It has become a bit touristy but has retained it´s charme. Boat tours are offered.

-Ilha grande: The “Big Island” is still very unspoilt, lots of beautiful beaches, turquoise waters, a great place to relax. It takes about two hours by car, then another hour by boat to get there, so you would need to start the day early to do this for a one-day tour. It´s definitely worth it though!

This “tour” is best done following one of the other tours. If you are not too tired from the days sightseeing, we will just take you to one of the places below to end your day!!

We take you to one of the following from about 19h till midnight

– Samba School: According to the season and day of the week we take you to one of the places where the big samba schools practice and dance to prepare for next year´s carnival – something not to be missed when you are in Rio

– Restaurant with Live Show and Music: There are several restaurants in the city center and in Ipanema which offer very good shows and excellent food

– Lapa or other nightlife district: Our favorite place for going out is Lapa with its dozens of bars and discos on the street and inside. It´s also very close to our hostel so coming home late at night is no problem. However, there are some other zones in Rio for night entertainment “on the street” also

Prices for Nightlife tour

We charge R$ 100,- for accompanying a group of any size at night, showing the places, translating, arranging transport etc. We can either take a taxi or have a driver accompany us, which will be approximately an R$ 50,-

This is a very special tour and is great to start or end your stay in Rio with. You will be picked up by car from our pousada and drive to the Pepino Beach in Sao Conrado. The trip takes around half an hour and you will see large parts of Rio and the floresta de Tijuca.

At the beach, we will pack the hang-glider before we drive to the steep hill of Pedra Bonita, next to Pedra da Gavea. Together with an instructor you will jump from the ramp at a height of more than 1000 meters. You will be hanging to the side of the instructor and are free to move your hands or even take pictures. From above, you will see the mountains of Pedra da Gavea, Dois Irmaoes, the Pepino Beach, the Hollywood style villa district of Sao Conrado and the Favela Rocinha, the biggest in South America.

The flight will take between 10 to 15 minutes, according to weather conditions. You will land on the beach.

After touching down, you may take a drink on the beach before the taxi will take you back to the pousada, or anywhere else in Rio if you don´t wish to return immediately.

Total duration: Around 3 hours
